PSW Confidentiality & Email Access

As a RideSupporter Personal Support Worker (PSW), you acknowledge and agree that:

1. Access to Client Information

You will receive limited client details (such as client name, phone number, clinic location, appointment time, recovery address, and emergency contact information) by email and/or text to allow you to perform your duties.

The same information will also be available to you in your RideSupporter Team Dashboard.

2. Use of Email and Text

RideSupporter uses secure systems to send these notifications, but email and text are not fully secure methods of communication.

By providing your personal email or phone number to RideSupporter, you accept the risks associated with receiving this information in that format.

3. Your Responsibilities

You must maintain the confidentiality of all client information at all times.

You must not forward, copy, or store client details outside of RideSupporter systems except as needed to perform your duties.

You must take reasonable steps to secure access to your email and phone (e.g., use passwords, do not share access).

You must immediately report to RideSupporter if you believe client information has been lost, stolen, or misdirected.

4. Compliance with Law

You understand that you are handling personal health information (PHI) under Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA).

Unauthorized use or disclosure of PHI is a serious breach of your Terms of Use and may result in termination, financial liability, and possible legal action.
